Commitment!

Months of hard work paid off today at the State House as we secured commitments from both Senators and Representatives to file our bill.  We garnered bipartisan support in the Senate as Sen. Nick Collins (D) agreed to sponsor our bill along with co-sponsors Sen. Michael Rodrigues (D) and Sen. Ryan Fattman (R).  We also mustered support from both sides of the aisle in the House as Rep. John Lawn (D) pledged to file our bill supported by co-sponsors Rep. Don Wong (R) and Rep. Sean Garballey (D).  There is still much to do in the days and weeks ahead to secure additional co-sponsors and to secure passage of our bill.  But the work has begun and the commitment is strong in the Senate, the House and HFAMA.

December 2018 State House Visit

In the run-up to the January 2019 filing date for our bill, the Committee for Protection and Access to Complementary and Alternative Health Care hit the State House to drum up support. Senator Denise Provost was all smiles as she met with her constituent Liesel Bender and Clark Reddick. Carol Bedrosian found strong support in Qigong master Rep. Donald Wong and Senator Ryan Fattman. Meanwhile Kim Valeri, Clark Reddick and Anne Fish couldn’t resist documenting their trip with a photo in the dome of the Massachusetts State House after meeting with representatives, senators, and legislative directors from the offices of Brad Hill, Patricia Jehlen, Jason Lewis, Joan Lovely, Michael Rodrigues, Bruce Tarr, and more. Stay tuned for more updates as we look for our bill sponsor and co-sponsors!

SB2621 Defeated for Now

We are relieved that the House Ways and Means Committee did not vote to move SB2621 forward, so it is essentially done for now. We will continue to keep an eye on it if it should be reposted by the sponsor in the next cycle for sure. We want to thank everyone who participated in reaching out directly to their Representatives and to the committee members and for those that physically showed up at the State House. It definitely made an impact and we believe was the reason they did not forward this bill. This just shows us what uniting for a cause can do.

STAY POSTED!

Health Freedom Congress 2018

From June 10-12th, 2018, thirty leading health freedom organizations and fifty additional organizations and participants representing millions of health freedom-conscious Americans came together at the InterContinental Hotel-Riverfront in St. Paul, Minnesota for the 12th U.S. Freedom Congress. They collaborated, celebrated, and networked for future actions to create a more unified front for the health freedom movement. For a summary of this 12th Freedom Congress, please click through on the linked graphic below. We are grateful for the support of the National Health Freedom Coalition as we continue to craft, garner support for, and submit our latest version of the Massachusetts Consumer Access and Right to Practice Complementary and Alternative Health Care Act.
